Wesak Celebrations Around

Mahindarama Buddhist Temple is holding a lamp lighting ceremony of 2556 Wesak Candles at 8.00 pm on this Friday 4th May 2012 at the temple's premises in Jalan Kampar, Penang. Aside, there will also be a food offering to the Buddha and Sanghas at 11.00 am on Saturday (Wesak Day) 5th May 2012.

The annual Maha Samaya Sutta chanting and blessing ceremony will be held at 7.30 pm on Sunday 6th May 2012. For further details on the auspicious day, you can call 04-2825944 (temple office).

Pu Xian Buddhist Association will also be organizing lamp lighting and robes offering together with blessing service this Friday from 8.00 pm onwards and on Wesak Day (Saturday) from 10.00 am at the temple's premises in 392 Jalan Bukit Dumbar, Penang. Devotees and well-wishers who wish to perform offerings on that day can call 012-4135986 or 012-4937992.

Meanwhile, the Amitabha Compassion Home at 3553 Jalan Khoo Hye Keat, Air Itam, Penang will be organizing a Buddha bathing and dana (offering of vegetarian food to the Sanghas) session on Wesak Day from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm. At the Palme Gon Buddhist Society in Taman Sentral, Bagan Lallang, Butterworth, Senge Tenzin Rinpoche has been invited to grace the Wesak Day celebration at the said Buddhist association's premises on that day. Event organized for the auspicious day starting from 2nd May until 5th May 2012 includes chanting of mantras, smoke and fire offering/puja, animal liberation as well as bath the Buddha ceremony.

Nandaka Vihara in Cerok Tokun, Bukit Mertajam will commence its Wesak Celebration on 4th May 2012 with the candle light procession follow by Paritta chanting to be conduct by the Sanghas. On Wesak Day (5th May 2012), the ceremony will be graced by Venerable Ariyadhamma Mahathera of Maha Bodhi Temple of Sri Lanka.

On that day the Buddha's relic will also be brought down from the Nandaka's Sima Hall to the Dana Hall for devotees and well-wishers to pay respect. Food stalls will also be available for devotees and friends, follow by Sanghikadana and Dhamma discourse by Venerable Sanghas.
