Today's Wesak Day

Today, I had attended a simple but yet blissful Wesak Day celebration held at the Palme Gon Buddhist Society's liberation park in Bagan Lallang, Butterworth. Today's programme include the chanting of sutras, followed by the liberation of fish into the Prai riverside to signify our compassion towards all living beings and to enhance our merits. After the liberation, the chanting of sutras continue up to noon. Lunch and refreshments were later serve to the devotees after the prayers.

Offering of Crystals to the Buddha at the centre's main shrine hall Chetsang Rinpoche chanting the mantras and sutras in a session Chetsang Rinpoche giving a Dharma discourse to the devotees His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche was invited to the Palme Gon Buddhist Society on 24 May 2010 recently to perform a Dharma discourse and led the devotees to conduct a liberation at the Prai riverside. Hundreds of members from the local Buddhist community attended the event on that evening which began at 7.00 pm at the Palme Gon centre's liberation park. After the liberation, the Rinpoche gave a Dharma discourse and blessed the devotees. The Rinpoche adjourned to Alor Setar on the next day to continue his Dharma tour in Malaysia.

Happy Wesak Day

I would like to wish all Buddhist and friends a Happy Wesak Day 28th May 2010. Tomorrow's day symbolized the Buddha's Enlightenment and His Teachings. Light as many oil lamps and candle lights as you can, participate in animal liberations and do as much good deeds as you can in order to promote and build up your good deeds and merits. Do not forget to also past your merits to your love ones and the departed in order for them to enjoy the bliss of the goodness as well. May You All Be Well and Happy. Namo Amitabha.

H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang will be in Butterworth, Penang

We are pleased to announced that His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the 37 th throne holder of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage will be in Butterworth, Penang next Tuesday 25 May 2010 at 7.00 pm in the Palme Gon Buddhist Society, Jalan Bagan Lallang, Butterworth. On that night His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang will personally lead the liberation, blessings and prayer session for the devotees. His Holiness is expected to be accompanied by a number of renowned rinpoches from the Drikung Kagyu Institute (DKI) to the occasion. All are most welcomed. Remember, the program shall commence at 7.00 pm on 25 May 2010 next week. See you there.

Annual Meeting of Drikung Kagyu Institute

The Annual Meeting of the Drikung Kagyu Institute (DKI) was held on May 5, 2010 in the main conference hall of the Songtsen Library. The meeting was co-organised by the members of DKI and the Songtsen Library. The Chairman of the Governing Council, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang, teachers, staffs and students of the Songtsen Library, Kagyu College, Jangchubling Monastery and Samtenling Nunnery were all present. The vice chairman of the DKI Dr. Tashi Samphel gave a warm welcome speech, and Ven. Khenpo Rangdol, the Principal of Kagyu College, gave an introductory speech on account of the DKI and read out the existing reports of the Governing Council. Khenpo Rangdo explained that the main objective of the administration is to take responsibility and resolve every issue and problems related with any department under the administration of DKI. The Most Venerable Theg Chhog Rinpoche today graced the liberation ceremony at the Palme Gon Buddhist Society in Bagan Lallang, Butterworth held in the evening. Theg Chhog Rinpoche later also led the devotees to conduct a small smoke puja in order to ease the sufferings of the wandering spirits and to lead them for rebirth. A short Dharma discourse was also conducted by the Rinpoche. Tomorrow, Theg Chhog Rinpoche will lead the lamp offering follow by the Kulu Kule Fire Puja to be held at 1.00 pm at the same location. All devotees are encourage to participate in this meritorious event.

The Most Venerable Theg Choog Rinpoche from Qinghai, China will be in Palme Gon Buddhist Society at Bagan Lallang, Butterworth this Saturday and Sunday from 8 May to 9 May to conduct the animal liberation and Sur Smoke Offering, Lamp Offering and Kulu Kule Fire Puja. Theg Choog Rinpoche was ordained and started his practice in Buddhism at the age of 8 by H.E. Sangjie Tenzhen Rinpoche of the Karma Kagyu Lineage. Theg Choog Rinpoche was recognized as a bhiksu by H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche at the age of 18 upon completing many retreats. Theg Choog Rinpoche was also recognized as an incarnation of Theg Chhog Rinpoche of Bei Ma Zong Ma Si by H.H. Penor Rinpoche and H.E. Horsal Dorjie Rinpoche where he was given his spiritual robes and three "tangka" of longevity by Tai Situ Rinpoche as a blessing for his longevity in this world so that he could widely spread the Buddha's teachings.
