A bird paying homage to Amitabha Buddha

Image
This bird might have been a believer of Buddha in its previous life. Reincarnated as a bird this time, it still remembers how to pay respect to and repent in front of Buddha. We should treasure being as a human in this life. Be mindful of our action, speech and thought. Observe precepts diligently. Not to be sorry after losing this human body.

I spent my Wesak Day today at Jeng Jyue Lin Temple situated in Taman Bayu, Mak Mandin, Butterworth today. As usual, devotees visited the temple to pay their respect to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha as well as making offerings i.e. candle light, incense, flowers, fruits and to chant the Buddha's Suttas with the Sangha. Giving

There are varieties in the essential nature of Giving: (a) giving of the Buddhist Law (Dharma), teaching the Subline Doctrine without error; (b) giving of security against fear of men, fierce animals and the other elements; (c) giving of material things, either concretely or imaginatively. Speaking generally, the household or layman Bodhisattva does the giving of material things and the Bodhisattva who has entered the religious life does the giving of the Law (Dharma). An illustration of how the Bodhisattva practices all six Perfections simultaneously with Giving predominant, the Great Commentary on the 'Perfection of Insight in Eight Thousand Units' explains: At the time he practices, say the Giving of the Law, he has the Morality of restraint against the mental orientation of Sravaka and Pratyekabuddha; he has both the Forbearance with conviction of the Law of Omniscient One and the Forbearance of mistreatment by another. He has the Striving purposive to promote

Visit to Chempaka Buddhist Lodge

Image
During my trip down to Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, I paid a visit to Chempaka Buddhist Lodge which is situated at Jalan SS23/25, Taman SEA, 47400 Petaling Jaya. Chempaka Buddhist Lodge (CBL) was established in 1985 and CBL had since grown into one of the major Buddhist organizations in Selangor and throughout Malaysia. During my visit there, CBL members and volunteers are in the midst of preparing for the upcoming Wesak Day celebration which is scheduled to be held on this Saturday, 5th May 2012. On this auspicious day, I would urge all Buddhists devotees and friends to come forward on that day to develop as much merits as possible such as animal liberations, lighting of oil lamps and candle lights, chanting of sutras and mantras, offering of robes, food and drinks to the members of the Sangha, offering of flowers and incense to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. May all be Well and Happy.
